Method
- Cook the rice according to the package instructions until fluffy and warm. Set aside for assembling the bowls.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking the meat apart as it cooks.
- Drain any excess grease if needed, then add the minced garlic. Cook for about one minute while stirring until fragrant.
- Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and optional red pepper flakes. Mix well until the beef is evenly coated in the sauce.
- Allow the beef mixture to simmer for 2–3 minutes so the sauce slightly thickens and the flavors combine.
- Spoon warm rice into bowls and top with the Korean ground beef mixture. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired, then serve immediately.
Notes
You can customize this bowl easily by adding vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, spinach, or bell peppers. Adjust sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar. For extra spice, add red pepper flakes or gochujang. The beef mixture stores well in the refrigerator for meal prep and reheats quickly for busy lunches or dinners.
