Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk (warm)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 apples (diced)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter (for filling)

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • loaf pan 9x5 inch
  • Rolling Pin
  • knife for slicing dough
  • saucepan for apple filling

Method

  1. Warm the milk slightly, then mix with yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, eggs, butter, and salt. Knead until smooth and soft, about 8–10 minutes.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled.
  4. Cook diced apples with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Let cool completely.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly.
  6. Roll into a log, slice lengthwise, and twist the halves together.
  7. Place in a loaf pan and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–40 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Make sure milk is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast. Let the dough rise fully for a soft texture. Cool the apple filling before spreading to prevent soggy dough. Avoid overfilling to keep clean layers. Store wrapped at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate up to 5 days. Freeze slices individually for up to 2 months.
