Method
- Warm the milk slightly, then mix with yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, eggs, butter, and salt. Knead until smooth and soft, about 8–10 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled.
- Cook diced apples with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Let cool completely.
- Roll dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly.
- Roll into a log, slice lengthwise, and twist the halves together.
- Place in a loaf pan and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–40 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
Make sure milk is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast. Let the dough rise fully for a soft texture. Cool the apple filling before spreading to prevent soggy dough. Avoid overfilling to keep clean layers. Store wrapped at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate up to 5 days. Freeze slices individually for up to 2 months.
